I thought I would take a second to address something that I have struggled with my whole life and that is weight. I was never really a sad kid, I have always been pretty confident but I was also chubby. I would say that in Jr high and High school I was always at least 20-30lbs over weight. I am tall so I carry the weight better than others, I never Hated my body but I did always wish it would just be easy. I have one older brother and two little sisters who have my Dad's metabolism and have always been stick thin. Were I got my Mom's body and have struggled with weight and dieting and trying to exercise as long as i can remember. My story is a lot like other girls where I tried a lot of diets and cutting out food groups to try and cut weight but nothing ever stuck. I would go to the gym and try some workouts but I was never good at pushing my self and my weight pretty much stayed the same until I turned 20.
When I started college I gained 20lbs, so I was now almost 40lbs over my "Healthy suggested weight" I had cancelled my gym membership and moved in with some roommate's who didn't really care what they ate. It was the highest I had ever seen a number on that scale.
THE SOLUTION
This past summer in August my little sister wanted to go check out a boxing gym and wanted me to come with her to try it out. I fell in love with the gym and the training. I signed up and haven't looked back. I just had my 6 months anniversary of when I joined and if everything goes according to plan this week I will have lost 30lbs from where I started.
The trick for me is realizing how much money I would spend on clothes and food but wouldn't spend on my health. I knew I was bad at motivating myself and recognized that a coach/trainer would be the best for me. At least for now, it also helped to be working towards a goal, a want to eventually fight as an amateur boxer, so the threat of getting my butt kicked is a good motivator.
FOOD
Tuna, Banan Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Dill Pickles, balsamic Vinegar and mustard on romain lettuce leaf.
LOVE BERRIES!! Natures Candy.
Salmon Grilled with Tomatoes, basil, goat cheese, and aged balsamic
Potato Kale Soup, super easy to make. It makes a huge batch and is delicious. I also add broccoli and cauliflower.
Green Drink in the mornings. Kale, Carrots, Spinach, Cucumber, and Berries.
I also figured out that its easy to alter recipes so you can still eat the things you love but with sometimes half the calories and not ruin your day. I am a very busy person so I learned that I need to take the time out to prep my food for the next day or for the next week or I will not be prepared and be forced to go fast food. Now with eating out you can find things that wont bust the diet but its just easier to prep it at home and not have the guilt of eating out, especially when you have spend to much time and money on groceries.
My favorite snacks at work are carrots and hummus, chips and salsa or yogurt and nuts. I can do some meal post later if wanted.
