Natural Oils

Castor Oil!

Let's talk about my favorite thing on the planet natural oils! My favorite is organic Castor Oil. It is my favorite for hair. Castor oil is great for you scalp which promotes grown and healthy roots. It helps with shedding by making the cycle of hair last longer. It has high moisture retaining capacity since it is not broken down easily which is what helps prevent the breakage of hair. I have got many of my friends hooked on it. I wash my hair about 2 or 3 times a week and let the oil sit for at least an hour before I wash. I also wash my hair in cold water, right before I get out if rinse my hair with as cold of water as I can stand.

It is also better for you hair to not use towels on it. The least abrasive is using a cotton T shirt to wrap your hair in instead of a towel.
Here are some results from using oil just this year.

And here are just some of my favorite hair styles.

Happy Hair day!

Lets Talk about Hair

If you know me you know that I am obsessed with long healthy hair. I am the kind of person who has never been able to grow my hair down to my butt. Incase you don't know that is genetics, if you have never had your hair be that long odds are it never will, but there are things you can do to get your hair past its usual breaking point.

My hair's natural splitting point is just past my shoulders above my chest, but with care and good products I manage to get my hair as long as it is now. I have worked in the beauty industry for 5 years and my knowledge is from research and practicing on myself.

Now if you are one of my close friends you know how crazy I am about getting good hair products. There really is no excuse to be using cheap drug store brands, having quality shampoo and conditioner 100% matters. Drug store products are really harsh and the majority of them are basically or one step up from being laundry detergent. Beauty supply stores are all over the nation and have sales CONSTANTLY on products. The most important thing to do is to read labels. Try to avoid products that containing alcohol, and sulfates, the problem is most shampoos don't properly balance the ph and it become very drying for hair. It's also best to avoid any and all silicone, and dimethicone in products, these build up on the hair and although it makes the hair lay down, it will only look good for a month or so before it builds up and is damaging to the hair.  They have shampoos that have no Sulfates or low sulfates as well low or no silicones which are much better.

The biggest thing is just make sure if these ingredients are in the products just make sure they are low on the list of ingredients. If its in the top 4 or 5 pass on it. My favorite shampoo and conditioner is Joico K-Pak, my hair gets very dry and my hair tends to like a heavier product. I also know many products for all hair types if there are any questions.

Oh and I thought I should post about your hair in this winter time. Winter is SO hard on hair especially in Utah with the dry weather. You HAVE to be using a good leave in conditioner (at least on your ends for those of you with oily hair) winter is ready to create breakage. Also should pick up your deep conditioning to every two weeks or at least once a month, don't waste your money on expensive "deep conditioners" coconut oil and castor oil is the best. Also be careful and watch the alcohol content in your shampoos conditioners and body lotion. :) if you have any hair questions or want suggestions for good products you can always ask.

The best thing for colored hair is professional shampoo and conditioner that has low or no sulfates and I can't stress this enough to keep your hair color longer don't ever wash with hot water, the colder you can stand the better, it keeps the cuticle closed, use heat when doing your oils treatments so the cuticles will open and take in the oils but not when you are washing ever.

Shopping and OOTD

Hey blogger world this week was crazier than expected so sorry there was no post during the week. I did some awesome shopping and wanted to show you some of what I found and some outfit of the day posts.

Now I am an actual bargain shopper for REAL real life people. I hate those segments on TV where they show "affordable" fashion but everything is still 100 bucks or over. I do go to thrift shops and I LOVE them, I used to be freaked out by the smell and all those gross things but underneath the dumb button up shirts and random colored jeans there are some GEMS. Here is a little of what I found on my discount shop day.

These blue suede shoes by BCBG at TJmaxx, I have never really shopped there before but they have great stuff in there! I scored these pumps for $30. I also get my MK and Steve Madden bags there they are SUCH a great price.

I scored these awesome Leopard Print (if there is anything you will learn about me while following my blog is I am obsessed with some leopard print) These where on hella sale at Kohls normally $70 on sale for $6! I was so excited and Kohls is PERFECT for discounts there whole store is always on sale practically.

I scored this fantastic Vest at Savers for $6, it may look ugly now but just wait till I get done with it. I love that denim is in right now and I am so excited to show you what I have in store for this gem.

This was my Church outfit, this is the warmest sweater on the planet (Forever 21) and I am obsessed with the chain necklace as well.

I scored this hat shopping! Love hats!

And of course while at savers I couldn't pass up some good O'l VHS's! Love these movies and only .99! I also got some amazeballs sweaters that I do a post on when I wear them.

The trick to finding deals is digging around. I am the type of person who loves to mix grundge with higher end pieces, I love the blend of hard and soft and having a throw back item to nod to. You will see more of what I am about in my future OOTD posts. Sorry so short!

Dig for those deals Dolls!

Soul Sunday

Hey Blogger world!

I took a big break from Blogging but I am back and I am hoping to be more constant. I am just a regular twenty something from Utah. I have learned a lot about fashion and hair through out my years and have had some requests to share what I know with the world and I would be glad to. To start out and since its Sunday I thought that if I have time I would do a Soul Sunday post.

I am LDS and I live and love my religion, I am far from perfect but I strive to live the standards the Lord has asked of me and to be a better giving person everyday. I love Sundays it's a day to worship and praise God. Now everyone has their own individual relationship and connection to God and for me nothing makes me feel his presence like music, nature, family and friends. With the weather this time of year nature gets put on the back burner a little though.

I have always set Sunday aside to listen to gospel related music, I love Folk music and you will learn that about me on my music posts, so my favorite station to listen too is "Down To The River To Pray" by Alison Krauss it has soft gospel as well as southern praise. You can click here for that song and I also love me my Dolly Parton gospel that I am listening to right now. I know this style of music isn't for everyone but stick with me I listen to loads of different kinds of music.

On Sundays I am going to try and post what I have been pondering this week. This week a lot has been changing with school starting again, changes at work, possibly not moving for a few years, and many other changes in life. With the new year I actually wrote down some resolutions this which I never do. So this week is about Faith. I have to have faith that I am making the right choices, faith that the Lord will help me and faith to carry out my decisions. Matthew 8 vs 26: "and he said unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?" Fear and faith cannot coexist, just believe and breath.

On a lighter note here are some winter Sunday looks that I love. Winter is all about tights.
